TYPING SKILLS
Introduction:-
Typing has become a pervasive mode of
language production worldwide, with keyboards fully integrated in a large part
of many daily activities. Either you are linked with any work related to typing
or otherwise, when you are sitting on a Personal Computer, to open any program,
you have to use the keyboard and for the smooth use to the keyboard, if your
typing speed is up to the mark, then you should have no hindrance in your way,
thus either in official capacity or private, you need to type anything on your
computer, therefore, nowadays typing has become most compulsory. Moreover, it
is an extraordinary skill which can be helpful in any field. More generally,
this study shows how the mere frequent use of a new tool can lead to the
incidental development of high expertise.
Utilization of typing:-
The
ability to type quickly and accurately is a skill that can help you to communicate
with clients and fellows no matter the career in which you work. Producing
quality work with few typos or missing words helps ensure that the focus
remains on the message of your content. Learning how to improve your typing
skills can help you become a more efficient communicator regardless of whether
you are writing articles, emails, presentations or other content. It is also pertinent to mention here that
while doing typing, the accuracy is most important factor and the target of
accuracy can only be achieved when your typing skill is up to the mark.
First step of learning typing
Now
I would like to tell you the method of keeping the fingers on the keyboard. The
following keyboard is used in all over the World for typing in English language:-
Recognition/introduction of Keyboard:-
There are three rows for letters “A” to “Z”, i.e upper row starting from letter
“Q” and ending at letter “P”, middle row starting from letter “A” and ending at
semi colon and lower row starting from letter “Z” and ending at “Full Stop”. First
of all, we have to put the fingers on middle row. The method of putting the
fingers on middle row is discussed below.
Method of putting fingers on middle row:-
There
are four fingers and one thumb in your hand, i.e index finger, middle finger,
ring finger, little finger and thumb. First of all, we will start from left
hand. You have to put you little finger on letter “A”, ring finger on letter
“S”, middle finger on letter “D” and index finger on letter “F”. Similarly, now
coming to right hand, put your little finger on semi colon “;”, ring finger on letter
“L”, middle finger on letter “K” and index finger on letter “J” and thumbs of
both hand are used to press only “SPACE BAR” button. There are ten (10) buttons
in middle row, out of which eight (08) i.e “ASDF” and “JKL;” has been discussed
supra however only two buttons “G” and “H” are left. The letter “G” shall be
pressed by index finger of left hand whereas letter “H” shall be pressed by
index finger of right hand. The middle row is clear.
Now
we shall learn the method to type the letters of upper row, which is as under:-
Method of typing the letters of upper row:-
First
of all, I shall want to make it clear that for typing either upper row or
lower, the fingers should be put on middle row in the process mentioned above
i.e “ASDF” and “JKL;”. First of all, fingers of left hand will be used. With
little finger letter “Q”, ring finger letter “W”, middle finger letter “E” and
index finger letters “R” and “T” shall be pressed. Now coming to the right
hand, with little finger, letter “P”, ring finger letter “O”, middle finger
letter “I” and index finger letters “Y” and “U” shall be pressed.
Now
we shall learn the method to type the letters of lower row, which is as under:-
Method of typing the letters of lower row:-
First
of all, fingers of left hand will be used. While typing the lower row, the left
little finger is not used for typing any letter, however the same is to press “SHIFT”
button, ring finger letter “Z”, middle finger “letter “X” and index finger
letters “C” and “V”. Now coming to the right hand, with little finger, “Full
Stop””, ring finger letter “Comma”, middle finger letter “M” and index finger
letters “B” and “N” shall be pressed.
Hence,
typing of letters “A to Z” has been completed.
